On-Going Children Programs for 2019 Fall Season


Hudson Area Library offers a variety of weekly Story & Craft Hours for children from birth to 7 years old and their families.

Wednesdays 10 – 11 am: Story & Craft Hour w/ AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps workers, Mary Shivers & Christa Shook, read picture books and lead children and families in theme-related crafts. All supplies are provided. Recent craft activities have included making superhero capes, designing children’s bookbags, and creating turkeys from pine cones and pipe cleaners. AmeriCorps is a voluntary civil society program supported by the U.S. federal government, foundations, corporations, and other donors engaging adults in public service work with a goal of “helping others and meeting critical needs in the community.”

Thursdays 10 – 11 am: Story & Craft Hour w/ Ms. Janice

The library also continues our regular Thursday Story Hours led by children’s librarian Janice Scali. Janice Scali heads the library’s early childhood Story and Craft Hours.

Saturdays 11am-12pm Story & Craft Hour with Ms. Janice & Guests

Ms. Janice leads our special Saturday children’s story hours often hosting guests for special programs during these storytimes.

● First & Third Saturdays are Folktales & Stories w/ Pamela Badila

Ms. Badila, performer and master educator, presents folktales from around the world to children and their families. This special story hour gives families the opportunity to explore stories, told through generations, that form the traditions and ethics of specific cultures.

● Second Saturdays are Craft Time w/ Robin Weber

Each session of this monthly series has a seasonal theme with a story reading and craft activity. All materials provided.

● Fourth Saturdays are dedicated to occasional guests including for our Drag Queen Story Time, Puppet Shows, and other fun literature-based activities.
